The second orientation meeting for Education Group of Haryana Environment Protection Foundation (HEPF)- Faridabad Chapter, comprising Educational Institutes, NGOs, RWAs, Industries and private sectors, was organized at DAV School, Sector 49, Faridabad recently for NIT Zone. The meeting was attended by Principals, Headmasters & Heads of Government and Private Schools along with student representatives participated for sensitization (awareness regarding environmental protection and conservation measures. All Heads of Educational institutions along with student representatives were briefed about the aims and objectives of Haryana Environment Protection Foundation which has been constituted in close collaboration with Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Institute, New Delhi.
Dr N C Wadhwa, along with other members of Education Group of HEPF briefed the delegates about the gravity of environmental crisis and the pivotal role to be played by each individual and educational institutions, both schools and colleges from the public and private sector at large. Some of the prominent suggested activities ranged from conducting workshops for recycling for plastic waste to make bird feeders and birdhouses, creating eco clubs, marathons, nukkad natak, eco-warriors, creating kitchen gardens, being mindful about everyday activities etc.
The very enthusiastic audience shared various initiatives like edible crockery, recycling floral offerings at temples to make perfumes/sprays/agarbatti promoting small scale industry, etc.
